With the rise of internet dating, there are plenty of people to choose from. The pool has expanded but the game has changed. It’s easy to be picky when another date is a simple swipe away. A lot people are looking for that instant spark, a burst of passion, love at first sight. But passionate love is actually a young concept, historically passion and marriage were organized in two separate realms. And there are many coupling stories where the relationship evolved slowly over time. I want to make some room for these alternate stories.

Danielle is asked the general question “what are you afraid of?” Her story unravels the immediate concern she is having around her daughter facing discrimination, which is only heightened by finding out a secret she wasn’t supposed to know.
About the producer:
Elif Giray is a therapist, painter, and budding audio producer. She’s had the priviledge of listening to countless people’s stories through her work as a therapist and it was these stories along with the warm medium of audio that compelled her to start producing audio pieces. She’s in the process of recording and aims to put out a podcast by the end of the year. Above all, she is a lover of spontaneous kitchen dance parties and avocados.

Liz McArthur is a radio producer in Victoria, BC. When she isn’t weaving stories with sound and voice, she likes to explore the wilds of Vancouver Island and garden.
